The Detroit Tigers sign William Cuevas

The Detroit Tigers have signed 26-year old righty starter/reliever William Cuevas to a minor league deal.  He pitched in 3 games (0 starts) for the Red Sox last year in his first taste of the show and he was 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and a 2.20 WHIP.  He also pitched in 25 games (18 starts) in AAA-ball last year for the Red Sox in which he was 6-8 with a 4.19 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.  Cuevas has now pitched in 162 games (94 starts) in his first 8 years in the minors and he is 44-38 with 6 saves, a 3.65 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.  Cuevas will get a shot to compete for a spot on the Tigers’ pitching staff next spring.
